Airport Transfer

Taxis are the usual transport. From the International (Piarco) Airport to the capital Port of Spain is about 30 minutes.

Currency

Local currency is the Trinidad and Tobago Dollar. There are about 8.9 to the euro or 12.7 to the pound or 6.3 to the US dollar.

Getting to Trinidad and Tobago from Europe is easy and relatively cheap considering the flight length.
You are more than half way to many South American destination so it's an ideal stopover.

However onward travel to South America offers less options than some other carribean destinations. The best route seems to be to use Aeropostal's one hour flight to Caracas and then travel on from there. This flight costs around 180 $US each way and buying a ticket further with aeropostal does not make it better value. The timing is convenient though with a mid morning departure aqllowing same day onward travel.

To Lima the trip can be done easily in a fairly comfortable day with much of the day spent waiting at Caracas airport before an onward flight with Taca or a few hours later and more expensive with LAN.

For the time being at least, low cost carriers have not got very far in South or central America.
