For British nationals:
British nationals require a visa to travel to Iran. The Iranian Consulate in London is at 50 Kensington Court, London, W8 5DB; tel: 020 7937 5225; fax: 020 7938 1615; (website http://www.iran-embassy.org.uk). Visa applications should be lodged well in advance of your date of travel. Women should wear a headscarf in their visa application photos. All passports must be valid for a minimum period of six months after arrival.

The opening hours of the visa section are as follows: Monday to Friday from 12:30 to 4 pm. Please note the numbers of applicants we accept each day are limited therefore we strongly recommend coming at 12:30 to avoid any inconvenience. The visa section reserves the right to stop serving when there are high numbers of applicants.

Local currency is the Iran rial, IRR. There are about 12.7 to the euro or 18.8 to the pound or 9.2 to the US dollar.
